When you’re thinking of buying something, or looking for a service provider, what’s the first thing you do? If you’re like me, you do a quick Google search, then start reading reviews.

There are tons of these review sites, and even some that are specific to body shops, but the truth is, you really only need to focus on a couple. Google My Business is the primary one, and those reviews show up on both Google Maps, and in Google Search results, so be sure to claim your listing.

Another popular one is Facebook – so if you don’t have a company page on Facebook, consider creating one, so you can respond to those reviews!

These platforms don’t let you remove bad reviews, so the best thing you can do is to respond to them rationally and politely, and then try to get more positive reviews, so the negative ones sort of fade into the background.

For example, if someone leaves a 1-star review, but it’s talking about how they’re mad at their insurance company, you can respond and mention that the problem was there and you had no control over it. If you did do something wrong, it’s best to apologize and offer to make it right. This shows other prospects that you care, and can demonstrate your customer service approach.

Once you start getting some good reviews, there are also tools you can use to embed those reviews on your website, so you can show off how much your customers love your shop!
